qFLIX Film Festival Set for

June Opening

qFLIX, Philadelphia’s LGBTQ film festival, will screen more than 50 features, shorts, documentaries, and new media webseries in theatres June 19-26 at the Suzanne Roberts Theater. In addition, the festival also is running PrideFLIX, a month long celebration of queer cinema online with an additional 50+ titles as well as some qFLIX films after their theatrical presentation. Both programs offer fabulous films by, for, and about LGBTQ+ life.

qFLIX Philadelphia 2019 Closing Night Premieres Two Amazing Films, “My Big Gay Italian Wedding” and “Forgotten Crew;” Presents Awards to Filmmakers

This year qFLIX Philadelphia 2019 will close with the acclaimed comedy from Italy, “My Big Gay Italian Wedding,” written and directed by Alessandro Genovesi, at 8:00 PM, Sunday, March 31, at the Perelman Theater at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. Red carpet call for photo ops runs from 7:15 to 7:45pm.

State Representative Malcolm Kenyatta to Recieve the qFLIX Philadelphia 2019 Harvey Milk Community Service Award on Opening Night

Before the feature film, “From Zero to I Love You,” on opeing night we will be screening a short film titled “Going Forward.”

This moving film shows viewers what Election Day is like for a lower-level candidate, campaigning in a district that’s desperate for a solution. Malcolm Kenyatta, a third-generation activist from North Philadelphia, was followed from 5am to 11pm, capturing the last hours of his campaign to become a Pennsylvania State Representative in the 181st District, and to become the first openly LGBTQ+ candidate of color elected to PA’s state office.

State Representative Malcolm Kenyatta will be in attendance to receive the qFLIX Philadelphia 2019 Harvey Milk Community Service Award.
